LSU Faculty Senate president calls for more diversity

The president of the LSU Faculty Senate is calling for more diversity on the boards of supervisors and other higher education boards in Louisiana.

Kevin Cope said during a speech at the Press Club Monday, Jan. 14 that these boards are making decisions in isolation because they do not reflect their constituency. He's calling for diversity in all areas.

"Not only ethnic diversity, but gender diversity, vocational diversity, economic diversity and age diversity," Cope says. ?"Any kind of diversity. What we have now is as far from diversity as you can get."

He says a more diverse board would make better decisions about the future of higher education.??Copyright 2013?WAFB. All rights reserved.
