Thai Olympic boxer fuming after defeat

Thai lightweight Saylom Ardee was left feeling he had been cheated out of an upset win over world bronze boxing medallist Gani Zhailauov here on Sunday in their Olympic bout.

The 26-year-old - who reached the second round four years ago as a featherweight - lost to the Kazakh fighter on countback after the bout finished 12-12, a result that was neither appreciated by the crowd, himself, or team coach Oscar Fuentes.

While Fuentes stormed through refusing to talk -- Saylom expressed his frustration at losing out on what he thought was a merited victory over the fifth seed.

"I definitely had an extra point in the final round," said Saylom, a two-time winner of the King's Cup in Thailand.

"However, the judges didn't award it, maybe they only see one side of the ring," he added.

Saylom, who had been egged on by a vociferous group of supporters, said he was convinced he had done enough even after the final bell.

"Even after the third round I was certain I had won," he said.

"I believe I won but the judges decision says otherwise."

Saylom, who led 5-4 after the first round with the fight then being tied at 8-8 going into the final round, said he was not thinking of lodging an objection.

"However, my coach may feel otherwise."

By studying fruit flies, scientists at A*STAR's Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology have successfully devised a fast and cost-saving way to uncover genetic changes that have a higher potential to cause cancer

By studying fruit flies, scientists at A*STAR's Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (IMCB) have successfully devised a fast and cost-saving way to uncover genetic changes that have a higher potential to cause cancer. With this new approach, researchers will now be able to rapidly distinguish the range of genetic changes that are causally linked to cancer (i.e. "driver" mutations) versus those with limited impact on cancer progression. This research paves the way for doctors to design more targeted treatment against the different cancer types, based on the specific cancer-linked mutations present in the patient. This study published in the prestigious journal Genes & Development could help advance the development of personalised medicine in cancer care and treatment.

The era of genomic sequencing has generated an unparalleled wealth of information on the complexity of genetic changes that occur as cancer develops and progresses. "Many genetic changes arise in cancer cells and changes continue to accumulate during the progression of disease to metastatic cancer [1]. The current challenge is to understand which of the many genetic changes are important drivers of disease progression" said Dr. Stephen Cohen, Principal Investigator at IMCB and team leader of this paper.

Though very different in many ways, fruit flies and humans share similarities in a remarkable two-thirds of their genomes. That is to say, many of the genes found in humans are also present in the flies. Similarly, various signalling pathways involved in tumour formation are also well conserved from fruit flies to humans. In fact, previous studies have shown that about 75 percent of known human disease genes have a recognisable match in the genome of fruit flies [2].

Leveraging on their genetic similarities, Dr Hctor Herranz, a post-doctorate from the Dr Cohen's team developed an innovative strategy to genetically screen the whole fly genome for "cooperating" cancer genes. On their own, these are the genes that appear to be harmless and have little or no impact on cancer. But in fact, they cooperate with other cancer genes, so that the combination causes aggressive cancer, which neither would cause alone.

In this study, the team was specifically looking for genes that could cooperate with EGFR [3] "driver" mutation, a genetic change commonly associated with breast and lung cancers in humans. SOCS5, reported in this paper, is one of the several new "cooperating" cancer genes to be identified through this innovative approach. Most of these new-found genes have yet to be identified as cancer genes in human or mouse models.

Said Mr Xin Hong, a PhD student and the co-first author of this paper, "We were very surprised by our finding because this it the first time that the Socs gene family is found to be linked to cancer. Previously it has only been associated with immunological disorders."

Dr. Cohen added, "Though these studies are in the early stages, they are very promising. Already, there are indications that levels of SOCS5 expression are reduced in breast cancer, and patients with low levels of SOCS5 have poor prognosis."

The IMCB team is preparing to explore the use of SOCS5 as a biomarker in diagnosis for cancer.

Said Professor Wanjin Hong, Executive Director of IMCB, "This study sheds light on the complexities of cancer genetics and paves the way to accelerate development of personalised medicine in cancer care. It is a fine examples of how powerful genetic approach using the fly model can reveal molecular mechanisms underlying human cancer. More importantly, it shows how fundamental research can have far-reaching applications for potential clinical benefits."

Kemp's 4 hits help Dodgers trounce Giants

Associated Press Sports

updated 7:25 p.m. ET July 28, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Matt Kemp remembers the days he would come to San Francisco and draw little notice. He prefers the way it is now.

Kemp homered among his four hits and drove in four runs, Chad Billingsley took a two-hitter into the eighth inning and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Giants 10-0 on Saturday.

"It's cool," Kemp said of the taunts he gets from the Giants' fans. "I get a kick out of it. They used to not know who I was."

Hanley Ramirez had three RBIs in helping the Dodgers beat San Francisco for the second straight day to pull within a game of the NL West-leading Giants.

"He's like having another Matt Kemp," Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly said. "You get a guy who can fly and has power."

Kemp said he's enjoyed his new teammate.

"He has a pretty swing," Kemp said. "He's always been one of my favorite players and now we're on the same team. Wherever he bats, he's going to help us."

Billingsley (6-9) drove in a run for Los Angeles with a sacrifice fly. He gave up leadoff doubles to Buster Posey in the second and Angel Pagan in the fifth, the only baserunners he allowed through seven innings. He gave up two more hits and was lifted with one out in the eighth.

"It looks like he has gotten back on track," Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said. "He hit his spots. It was a well-pitched game."

Barry Zito (8-7) gave up four runs on seven hits over 5 1-3 innings. He walked one and struck out four.

The Dodgers got to Zito right away. Mark Ellis opened the game with a sharp single and, one out later, Kemp hit his 15th home run, a drive that sailed halfway up the left field bleachers.

"Kemp has been swinging the bat well," Zito said. "He took a good swing on a good pitch. It was right where I wanted it."

Billingsley's sacrifice fly in the fifth drove in the Dodgers' third run and Hairston's RBI double in the sixth ended Zito's day.

"The last time we were in here we were a different team," Billingsley said. "Hanley has been a good addition and Kemp hit the home run early and we just continued it."

The Dodgers tacked on three runs in the seventh on A.J. Ellis' leadoff home run and back-to-back doubles from Kemp and Ramirez. They added three more in the ninth on Kemp's fourth hit and Ramirez's two-run single.

"It's great to have the whole team together," Ellis said. "We feel like we can match up with anybody. When Chad is locked in like he was today, he's as good as anyone in the league."

Luis Cruz had two hits for the Dodgers, extending his hitting streak to 11.

Marco Scutaro and Brandon Crawford each singled with one out in the eighth, prompting Billingsley's exit. Javy Guerra came on to get the final five outs.

NOTES: Zito has a first-inning ERA of 6.30. ... Dodgers RHP Rubby De La Rosa will join LHP Ted Lilly at Class-A Rancho Cucamonga for a rehab assignment. ... Dodgers' RHP Matt Guerrier will begin a rehab assignment, though he's not expected to pitch for the Dodgers again until September. ... LHP Clayton Kershaw (7-6, 3.14) pitches for the Dodgers in Sunday's series finale. His career ERA of 1.45 (minimum 50 innings) against the Giants is the lowest all-time against the team. ... RHP Ryan Vogelsong (8-4, 2.26) starts for the Giants. ... Billingsley recorded his first career sacrifice fly.

Help for Diabetes | Health & Performance Centre

Can Physical Therapy Help Diabetes?

In the world that we live in, Type II diabetes has become widespread. It is usually associated with weight gain, which further complicates the condition. Owing to insulin imbalances, it becomes extremely difficult for a diabetic to lose weight.

At the same time, weight loss is an important component of diabetes management. Losing just 5 to 10 percent of excess body weight has radical long term consequences and significant health benefits. Weight loss has the potential to reduce the complications associated with diabetes and minimize the likelihood of developing Type II diabetes.

In order to shed the excess body weight, a diabetic needs a progressive, structured combination of exercise and nutrition. Supervision and accountability is a key component of lasting weight loss for diabetics. A physical therapist can play an important role in exercise program design. A well-designed exercise program from a physical therapist can help burn calories, improve circulation and help the body manage insulin more effectively.

?
Planning For Safe, Sustained Weight Loss

Weight loss requires a strategic combination of cardiovascular exercise and muscle strengthening to burn excess calories and improve metabolism. This increases your body?s ability to utilize energy and balance blood sugar levels, which is a safe and effective way to manage diabetes.

Type II diabetes is associated with decreased insulin sensitivity, which makes it extremely important for a diabetic to include muscle strengthening as part of a supervised exercise program. Increased muscle tone is a direct benefit of muscle strengthening. Muscle is considered a ?metabolically active? tissue, which burns energy, helps stabilize the body?s response to sugar and allows the body to use insulin more effectively. With your physical therapist?s supervision, muscle strengthening can be a safe, fun way to manage diabetes and improve energy levels!

Depending on the severity of the insulin imbalance, a physician may recommend some medications, and it?s best to consult with your physician to determine if you need a prescription for diabetes medication or a visit to your physical therapist.

Exercise Is The Foundation

Exercise is the foundation for the safe, effective treatment of diabetes. A physical therapist can evaluate a diabetic patient and determine if there is any muscle weakness, imbalance, impairment of sensations or aches and pains associated with excess body weight.

This information can be used to design an exercise program that can restore muscle balance, aid in weight loss and facilitate return to normal, healthy function.

A physical therapist can play a crucial role by setting up an individualized exercise program to manage diabetes. In most cases, a physical therapist will work closely with your physician to help you manage your blood sugar levels.

There is a lot that a physical therapist can do for you, and help is just a phone call away. Don?t let diabetes steal your energy or affect your lifestyle.? Please call us today and give us the opportunity to demonstrate how we can help you.

What is an eating disorder? Video #5 | Diet-Fitness-Health-Healthy ...

www.katimorton.com What is an eating disorder ? Video #5 This video is about the DSM definition of what an eating disorder is. I felt that it was important to go over what the criteria are because many people misuse the term eating disorder. An eating disorder is described as someone who has a severe disturbance in their eating behavior. The most important term in that definition is the word ?severe.? This isn?t something that they only think about when they are eating or when planning an event that will have food at it. This severe disturbance takes up most of their thoughts and practically runs their life. When ?normal eaters? make plans to get together with friends they get excited to catch up and eat at their favorite restaurant. Someone with an eating disorder would not be excited. An event like this would cause them great anxiety and they may even try to cancel the event multiple times. I hope that clears up any confusion and stay tuned for more videos clarifying the types of eating disorders, such as, anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive eating. It is my hope that leveraging social media whether it is YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn can help me reach more people and spread the word about eating disorders and how destructive they can be to the people who suffer from them as well as those closest to them. TRANSCRIPT:

this is my first video so no negative comments please. Everyone?s eating disorder is different so I don?t want people thinking I know everything about them. because I don?t. I know everything about mine. And only mine. This is just to share some of my experience. I hope this doesn?t trigger anyone. If you have or have had an ED please take it into consideration about watching videos like this because I know it triggers me.

Sacramento Mom and Blogger Launches New Website for Moms ...

SACRAMENTO, CA ? Sacramento, California ? Cascia Talbert, mother of four and creator of the popular health blog for moms, The Healthy Moms, is on a mission to promote health and wellness for families with her new website, the Healthy Moms Network. The new website will bring mom bloggers and health experts together to create meaningful discussions on how to stay healthy and fit. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 16 percent of children (over 9 million) 6-19 years old are overweight or obese ? a number that has tripled since 1980. In addition to the 16 percent of children and teens ages 6 to 19 who were overweight in 1999-2002, another 15 percent were considered at risk of becoming overweight. (?Prevalence of Overweight and Obesity Among Children and Adolescents: United States, 1999-2002?; Oct. 6, 2004) Ms. Talbert believes that by educating ourselves on obesity prevention and passing what we learn on to our children we can reverse these statistics.

Moms can visit the Healthy Moms Network and learn more about health and wellness through an interactive video chat provided by Stickam, an online forum, and an interactive blog for all members to contribute to.

?As my blog, The Healthy Moms started growing I realized that there were a lot more moms out there with the same concerns as I do,? stated Ms. Talbert, ? We all want to feel good and be happy. We also want the best for our children and one of the greatest gifts we can give them is the gift of good health. I created the Healthy Moms Network as a way to bring these mothers together so we can all learn how to take care of ourselves and pass that on to our children.?

The Healthy Moms is an online magazine started by Ms. Talbert in 2007. Seven other moms, including a few health and fitness experts contribute to the magazine. The Healthy Moms Network will provide articles from all members on health, wellness, parenting, pregnancy and other topics concerning today?s families. Health and wellness experts are also encouraged to join the network.

Cascia Talbert lives in Sacramento, California with her husband, four children and two cats. You can visit her blog at http://www.thehealthymoms.net or join the Healthy Moms Network at http://healthymoms.em.extrememember.com.

Preparing To Take The First Steps On Your Fitness Journey | Biovive ...

It should be easy to get good nutrition with the right tools. The reality of the situation is that navigating the myriad of conflicting reports, convoluted labels and hard to find information can make food decisions difficult. This article will simplify the information you need to practice good nutrition.

You can boost your nutrition by changing your food preparation. Boiling or steaming food is the way to go. Deep frying and using lots of grease and butter is a really bad idea. Preparing food in a healthy way allows one to enjoy one?s favorite dishes without the added fat.

Riboflavin is an important part of a healthy diet. The human body needs riboflavin to utilize the energy found in carbs, fats, and proteins. Riboflavin is also necessary for a healthy metabolism and in the transportation of iron throughout our bodies. You can find Riboflavin in whole grain, enriched grain and diary products.

Drinking Alcohol

If you are suffering from diabetes, you need to consult your doctor before drinking alcohol. As a diabetic, drinking alcohol can decrease your body?s blood sugar levels.

In one-hundred grams of Quinoa, there is fourteen grams of protein. Quinoa can be used in many different dishes. You can use it in rice, or make wonderful, sweet, fruit-laden dishes.

Drinking plenty of water is one of the best nutritional tips available. The human body is roughly 60% water and it is essential that we stay hydrated to maintain smooth bodily function. Try to drink eight or more glasses of water every day.

Reading was the easy part! Putting into practice what you have learned will take a little more effort but be well worth the energy spent and even give you more energy in the long run. You have taken the initial steps necessary to begin positive changes in your consumption habits and once you put them into action you will be much happier and healthier for it!

Munich survivor joins NY minute's silence

A survivor of the Israeli Olympic team massacred at the 1972 Munich games will join officials in New York for a moment of silence Friday.

Avi Melamed will join the Israeli Consul General of New York Ido Aharoni and a string of Jewish and local New York officials, a publicist said.

The event will coincide with the opening ceremony of the London games, where International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge has declined to hold an official minute's silence in commemoration of the attack 40 years ago.

Eleven Israeli athletes and coaches, as well as a West German police officer, were killed during an attack by Palestinian militants at the 1972 Summer Olympics.

On Wednesday, the widows of the Israeli victims urged spectators at the London opening to hold an unofficial minute's silence in their memory.

Rogge held an impromptu minute's silence when he toured the Athletes' Village in London on Monday, but the widows dismissed the gesture.

Iran accuses Israel of blowing up bus at airport

Burgas airport security cameras caught the alleged terrorist wandering around a terminal minutes before he boarded a bus filled with tourists and allegedly blew himself up. Police are now trying to identify who he was with the help of DNA analysis. NBC's Martin Fletcher reports.

By NBC News wire services

UNITED NATIONS - Iran's U.N. envoy accused Israel on Wednesday of plotting and carrying out a suicide bomb attack on a bus in Bulgaria a week ago in which five Israeli tourists were killed.

A suicide bomber blew up the bus in a car park at Burgas airport, a popular gateway for tourists visiting Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, killing himself, the Israeli tourists and the Bulgarian bus driver and wounding more than 30 people.

Israel has accused Iran and the Lebanese Islamist group Hezbollah of the bombing. Iran has denied the accusations.

"It's amazing that just a few minutes after the terrorist attack, Israeli officials announced that Iran was behind it," Iran's U.N. Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee told a U.N. Security Council debate on the Middle East. "We have never and will not engage in such a despicable attempt on ... innocent people."

Bulgaria official: Suspected suicide bomber carried fake Michigan license

"Such terrorist operation could only be planned and carried out by the same regime whose short history is full of state terrorism operations and assassinations aimed implicating others for narrow political gains," Khazaee said. "I could provide ... many examples showing that this regime killed its own citizens and innocent Jewish people during the last couple of decades.

Israel's U.N. Ambassador Haim Waxman said Iran's fingerprints were all over the bomb attack in Bulgaria, as well as dozens of other plots in recent months around the world.

"These comments are appalling, but not surprising from the same government that says the 9/11 attack was a conspiracy theory and denies the Holocaust," Waxman said in a statement.

The Associated Press reported that Waxman also blamed Iran and Hezbollah for terrorist attacks and attempted attacks in recent months in India, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Kenya, Turkey and Cyprus that targeted Israelis.

As 150 Israeli tourists boarded buses to go to their hotels, a massive explosion killed at least six. Police don't yet have any answers, and nobody has claimed responsibility. NBC's Martin Fletcher reports.

Israel accuses Iran of developing atomic weapons and has repeatedly hinted it is prepared to strike Iranian nuclear targets if Tehran does not curb its suspect program. Iran denies it is trying to develop nuclear weapons and says its nuclear program is designed to produce nuclear energy.

'Exceptionally skilled'
Some analysts believe Iran is trying to avenge the assassinations of several scientists involved in its controversial nuclear program that it blames on Israel and the United States. Israeli diplomats have been targeted in several countries in recent months by bombers who the Jewish state maintained had struck on behalf of Tehran.

More Iran coverage from NBCNews.com

"The time has come for the world to put an end to this campaign of terror, once and for all," Waxman said.

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boiko Borisov said Tuesday that a sophisticated group of conspirators was involved in the bombing. He did not give any numbers or nationalities of those believed to be responsible but described them as "exceptionally skilled" and said they "observed absolute secrecy."

Reuters and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Top 30 Most Wanted Games of 2012 - Video Games Blogger

Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu?s newest issue has a section where their thousands of readers can vote on their Top 30 Most Wanted Games of 2012 by favorite platform. This week saw quite a few changes worth checking out.

Resident Evil 6 for PlayStation 3 stays the number one most wanted game. With Monster Hunter 4 for Nintendo 3DS moving up to number two thanks to the added hype it got from being shown off at the Capcom Summer Jam. Newcomers this high in the list are: The soon-to-be-released New Super Mario Bros. 2 for Nintendo 3DS, and the newly announced Tales of Xillia 2 for PlayStation 3.

While Square Enix the other day confirmed that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still very much in development, recent rumors it was cancelled pushed the game down from number eight to fourteen, and as you can see from the numbered list, the previous placement for each game is listed behind the current position.

IS happiness a Warm Puppy? - The Self Improvement Blog

By Irene Conlan -

Happiness!? In the United States we have the Constitutional right to pursue happiness although no one can guarantee that we will find and keep it.

Ask ten people what they want in life and several will most likely say, ?I just want to be happy.? Follow that with the question, ?What does happiness look like to you?? or ?How will you know when you are happy?? and you may get a? deer in the headlights look and a response akin to ?I?ll just know.?

Charles Schulz wrote a book in the ?60s titled, ?Happiness is a Warm Puppy? that featured that loveable little Beagle, Snoopy, with all his wit and witticisms that made us laugh and wish we could have a pet like that.

So what about it? IS happiness a warm puppy?

Happiness to me is a habit of thought and emotion that creates a feeling of well being within me that is not shaken by external circumstances. It may rain, the car not start, your best friend leave, the bank account be near zero and ? well, you get the idea ? the core of you knows that everything will be o.k. and the feeling of well-being remains.

I used to believe that happiness happened to me and that if I could get the right people, things and finances in the right amounts, happiness would come to me. It is true that I had periods of feeling great but keeping the right people, things and finances in the right balance presented a challenge that kept me a little off center. If I lost any one of these things, then what?

When I finally understood that I create my own happiness and it has to do with the ?inner? me ? what I think, how? I react, what I believe, how I love and how I trust and that I have control over these things my life began to change. I?m definitely still a work in progress and I have to be diligent about keeping my thoughts positive, my heart open to loving and being loved (not always an easy feat) and direct my emotions toward happiness (Yes, I still get angry, I still overreact at times and jump to conclusions ? as I said, I?m still a work in progress- a very human work in progress). Slowly I?m beginning to notice a change within me that isn?t shaken if the proverbial wind blows and the storm hits.

Now ? how about that warm puppy idea?

I have a warm puppy named Smarty who is now seven months old. He is the puppy in today?s picture. He chews everything he can find to chew. He can run by the trash can and without pause, grab something and get to the living room couch with it before anyone else can focus. He has bad manners that we?re trying to stop and ?no? is a word with absolutely no meaning for him ? yet. The point? He is a free spirit who knows what he wants and goes after it. He is completely sure that there will be food in his dish, fresh clean water always available, toys that are just his, and a lap whenever he needs one. He isn?t afraid that if he loves me he will be hurt ? he just loves me and it shows in everything he does. He follows me everywhere I go, gives me slurpy puppy kisses, sleeps on my foot when I sit at the computer so he knows I?m close, and brings his toys and drops them in my lap when he wants to play. He eats when he?s hungry, sleeps when he?s tired, and has a way of letting me know when he needs or wants something.? He trusts, loves, relaxes and is what he is ? a puppy. A warm puppy, that is. And I would guess that he?s a happy puppy.

I?m learning a lot about happiness from him and perhaps happiness is, indeed, a warm puppy. At least it?s a start.

Colorado House District 39 GOP primary recount begins in Teller, Douglas counties

A recount is underway in House District 39, an open seat in Douglas and Teller counties where Polly Lawrence beat Lu Ann Busse for the Republican nomination in the June primary.

Unofficial results showed Lawrence had defeated Busse 53.5 percent to 46.4 percent, or 3,525 votes to 3,056 votes. The district was newly drawn in the legislative redistricting process in 2011 and includes large portions of rural Douglas County and all of Teller County.

Though the margin Lawrence won by was large enough to avoid any automatic recount, Busse still had the right to request a recount ? which she must pay for. The recount in Teller County was underway Monday, and the recount in Douglas County begins Tuesday.

In a letter to Colorado Secretary of State requesting the recount, Busse noted there were no provisional ballots issued in Douglas County, which she called one of a number of ?irregularities? that occurred in the county during the election.

Jack Arrowsmith, clerk and recorder in Douglas County, said that it was uncommon in all-mail ballot elections to issue provisional ballots, which are counted conditionally until they can be verified. Arrowsmith said these ballots are given out in jurisdictions where there are still polling places, not in those mail ballot elections.

?No one shows up at the wrong polling place in a mail ballot election,? Arrowsmith said.

He estimated the cost of the recount at $1,500.

The winner of the contest goes on to face Democrat Carla Turner in the November general election.

ICBC takes union to court over altered e-mail signatures

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia is taking its union to court over its latest job-action tactic, alleging the union?s improper use of company e-mail was ?high-handed, flagrant and malicious.?

In a statement of claim filed Monday in B.C. Supreme Court, ICBC says the union instructed its members to remove the trademarked phrase, ?BUILDING TRUST. DRIVING CONFIDENCE.? from company e-mail signatures, replacing it instead with ?The B.C. Government is taking $1.2 billion out of ICBC?s revenue,? and ?We work. You Drive. We both deserve better.?

More Related to this Story

The new e-mail signature also links to the union?s website.

About 10,800 e-mails with the new sign-off were sent on Wednesday alone, according to the claim.

As of Thursday, 1,069 members had adopted the altered signature.

ICBC said the new signature violates copyright and trademark laws and creates the impression the corporation supports the anti-government stance. It also said the messages harm its relationship with customers.

?We?re taking the position that that is an inappropriate ? if not illegal ? form of job action, to alter official ICBC communications and use company equipment to further the union?s job action,? said ICBC spokesman Mark Jan Vrem.

ICBC is seeking an injunction against the altered signatures as well as unspecified damages for trademark and copyright infringement and loss of business.

Meanwhile, the union believes ICBC is the one crossing the line by taking the matter to court.

?We think it?s a really heavy-handed, over-the-top response,? said Lori Mayhew, secretary treasurer of COPE 378, which represents about 4,600 workers with ICBC.

?It?s completely unwarranted. We took similar action in 2003 and they had no objection to it.?

That year, members changed the e-mail tagline to: ?Good people deserve a good contract.?

?We don?t see putting a tagline on e-mails as any different than our members wearing buttons in the workplace or handing leaflets to clients as they come in, and these are all accepted forms of job action,? Ms. Mayhew said.

The parties are in an ongoing contract dispute and have had 23 bargaining sessions since January of 2011. The union voted 87 per cent in favour of a strike last month, but the Labour Relations Board ruled it could only take limited job action while the board sorts out what is and is not an essential service.

Union members have been without a contract agreement for two years and ICBC expects them to go five years without a wage increase, said local vice-president Jeff Gillies.

Members want to negotiate workload issues, improved benefits and wage increases, yearly cost-of-living increases and an additional one or two percentage points on top of that, Mr. Gillies said.

Pet Craft: DIY Cat Treat Jar | Bowdabra Blog

DIY Cat Treat Jar: We have 3 cats who are very spoiled. They have a treat jar that they walk us to when they want a snack. My 13 year old, Emily, took on the challenge to decorate their treat jar. She went to the craft store and picked out which colors she wanted to use. Then she came home and drew a sketch of each side of the container. From there she painted each side.

This would make a great craft for any kid. What a fun thing to do when it is way too hot outside to enjoy the weather. Emily planned out each side but this is something that could be painted without a plan. Our cats love the container because of what is inside. My daughter loves the container because it is something she created for them.

?Mini Bowdabra?
?Bowdabra? Bow Wire
?Hair Bow & Tool Ruler
?Acrylic Paint
?Paint brushes

? Two 5? pieces of 3/8 inch wide satin ribbon
? 12? piece of Morex Meow Bobbin Ribbon
