Former Union Talisman Sebastien Le Toux Traded To Rival Red Bullls

Former Union star Sebastien Le Toux has been traded from the Vancouver Whitecaps to the New York Red Bulls for Dane Richards and allocation money.

Jul 14, 2012 - In a move on Friday, the New York Red Bulls acquired former Philadelphia Union member Sebastien Le Toux from the Vancouver Whitecaps for Dane Richards and allocation money, according to the New York Times.

The trade brings the 28-year-old Le Toux to New York in hopes of bringing a championship to the club. Le Toux will be played alongside fellow countryman Thierry Henry of France, providing some formidable firepower up front.

"Sebastien is one of the premier attacking players in the league and someone who we have admired for a long time; he will be able to play a number of different positions and will be an important piece for us as we challenge for the M.L.S. Cup this year," said Erik Soler, the Red Bulls general manager and sporting director, in a statement.

"We also want to wish Dane the best of luck in Vancouver. He has been a great player for our club, and it was a difficult decision to trade someone of his quality," said Soler.

In his two years with the Union, Le Toux put up nice numbers to the tune of 25 goals and 20 assists in 62 regular season games.

This will be the fourth MLS team for Le Toux, who has already spent time with the Seattle Sounders, Union and Whitecaps.
